History of Orissa Police

The separate province of Orissa was formed on the 1" April 1936 comprising the old Orissa Division, a part of the Madras Presidency and a small fragment of the Central Provinces. The newly formed province consisted of 6 districts. With the formation of the new province, the Police Administration had to face considerable problems as not less than three police procedures were existing for the erstwhile Bihar and Orissa, Madras and Central Provinces. To bring about uniformity, the Bihar and Orissa Police Manual with some modifications was introduced in the new province.
